Timberwolves’ Porter commits to Lakehead University

The Miramichi Timberwolves have announced that defenseman Tim Porter has committed to Lakehead University.

The 21-year-old from Lower Onslow, N.S. was a territorial selection, 58th overall, by the Truro Bearcats in the 2021 MHL Entry Draft. In his rookie season of 2021-22, Porter had one goal and three assists in 30 games for the Bearcats. He had one assist in fifteen playoff games as the Bearcats fell in the league final to Summerside.

Porter would land with the Edmundston Blizzard before the start of the 2022-23 season, where he would finish with eight goals and five assists in 43 games. He added three goals and one assist in fourteen playoff games as the Blizzard lost to Yarmouth in the Metalfab MHL Cup Final. Porter was named to the Eastlink North Team of the Week once.

In 2023-24, Porter had three goals and fifteen assists in 28 games with Edmundston before a big trade before the January deadline sent him to Miramichi. He continued to tally points with the Timberwolves, with four goals and eight assists in 22 games for Miramichi. He was selected to the Eastlink North Team of the Week three times after the trade. Overall, Porter finished the regular season with the twelfth-most points among MHL defensemen. In the Metalfab MHL Cup Playoffs, he had four goals and four assists in fifteen games as Miramichi captured its first-ever league title. Porter had one goal and two assists in six games at the Centennial Cup.
