Tigers’ Schofield commits to University of Wisconsin-Stout

The Campbellton Tigers have announced that forward William Schofield has committed to the University of Wisconsin-Stout, an NCAA Division 3 school.

The 21-year-old from Renous, N.B. was a territorial draft pick of the Miramichi Timberwolves, selected 26th overall, in the 2020 MHL Entry Draft. He played three games with Miramichi in 2020-21, picking up a pair of assists, and played in four playoff games. Joining the club full-time in 2021-22, Schofield had one goal and three assists in 35 games.

In 2022-23, Schofield tallied seven goals and 22 assists in 51 games for the Timberwolves. During the Metalfab MHL Cup Playoffs, he had three assists in six games. Schofield was also named to the Eastlink North Team of the Week once during the season.

He was traded to Edmundston just before the start of the 2023-24 regular season. Schofield had two goals and nine assists in seventeen games for the Blizzard before being dealt to Campbellton in late November. Schofield had twelve goals and 29 assists in 31 games with the Tigers. He finished his MHL career with just ten penalty minutes in 147 games played, including the playoffs.
