Ramblers’ Matulu commits to Royal Military College

The Amherst Ramblers have announced that defenseman Joachim Matulu has committed to the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario.

The 21-year-old from Shediac, N.B. was selected third overall by the Grand Falls Rapids in the 2021 MHL Entry Draft. In his rookie season of 2021-22, Matulu had four goals and six assists in 36 games for the Rapids. He was named to the Eastlink North Team of the Week once during the season. He played 20 games for Grand Falls in 2022-23, with one goal and one assist, before being traded to Amherst at the end of November. Matulu scored two goals and had five assists in 25 games with the Ramblers.

In 2023-24, he played 42 games with Amherst, more than doubling his career point total with two goals and nineteen assists. In the Metalfab MHL Cup Playoffs, Matulu had one goal and six assists in twelve games. He was named to the Eastlink South Team of the Week once.
