Tonight in Bridgewater, the Mariners are hoping to sail towards the MHL Final.
Game 4 of the best of seven Eastlink South Division Final between the Mariners and South Shore Lumberjacks gets underway at 7PM. Yarmouth holds a commanding 3-0 lead in the series. Should they win, it will punch the Mariners’ ticket to the league final for the first time since 2012.
On Wednesday night in Yarmouth, the Mariners posted a 5-3 victory to push themselves further ahead in this series. Five different players found the back of the net for Yarmouth while Matt Barron and Aaron Maillet led the way with three points each while Leif Hertz was stellar between the pipes, making 38 saves. Logan O’Neil scored once and added an assist for South Shore, who received a 24 save effort from MacKenzie Janes.
Meanwhile, in the Eastlink North Division Final, the scene shifts back to Edmundston for Game 5 between the Blizzard and the Summerside Western Capitals on Saturday night at 7:30PM. That series is tied at two games apiece thanks to a 6-4 Caps win in Game 4 in Summerside on Wednesday. This year’s MHL Rookie of the Year, defenseman Jordan Spence, led the charge with five assists for Summerside while TJ Shea and Brodie MacArthur each added three points. Dominik Tmej made 39 saves between the pipes for the Western Capitals while Francis Asselin stopped 26 shots for Edmundston, who received goals from four different players and points from 11 players.
